One fine morning in spring, hairstylist Emilie (Audrey Tautou) receives a love letter, beautiful, inspiring but anonymous. She throws it in the trash at first, without knowing that it can be the key to save her mother (Natalie Baya), who is self-isolated and depressive since her husband left. Without too much thinking, she sends the letter to her mother. But Emilie doesn't know yet the author of the letter is actually Jean, her shy staff in the hair salon. However, she can never imagine that such gesture leads to a series of misinterpretations and misunderstandings which becomes out of control...

While a menacing typhoon approaches, an accident at the giant natural gas plant Regalia occurs. Japan Coast Guard rescue divers Daisuke Senzaki (Hideaki Ito), Tetsuya Yoshioka (Ryuta Sato) and engineer Hiroshiichirou Sakuragi (Masaya Kato) head together to the gas plant. During their rescue efforts an explosion occurs that traps Daisuke, Natsu Nishizawa Kazue Fukiishi and worker Hisayoneo Kizima (Gaku Hamada). Daisuke then looks for a way out for his party with a man he just meets Takuya Hotori. Because of the typhoon, even a helicopter cannot approach the Regalia.

Kurono (Kazunari Ninomiya), a college student looking for employment after graduation, sees his childhood friend Kato (Kenichi Matsuyama) on a subway platform. Kato, who has a strong sense of justice, tries to help a drunk who falls onto the train tracks, but he and Kurono, who jumps in to help him, get run down by an oncoming train. In the next instant, they are teleported to a strange apartment. In the room, there is a big black sphere with an unusually powerful presence, and surrounding it are Suzuki (Tomorowo Taguchi) and some other people. Suddenly, round slices of a human body appear in front of the confused Kurono and Kato. The slices combine and form into a naked woman, Kishimoto (Natsuna). It appears that Kurono and Kato have been teleported to this room in the same fashion.
